This final post will leave you prepared for Thursday.
Thanksgiving is a deliciously dangerous day for those dieters who have maintained their discipline for weeks prior. While you don’t need to totally deprive yourself on that day, you can still do some activity on Turkey Day to keep your goals in sight. Best of all, you can invite your friends and family to join you in your chosen activity, keeping both the holiday and fitness spirits strong. Here are some ways to stay active on Thanksgiving:
1. Instead of crashing on the couch in a turkey haze, take a walk after dinner. This is a great way to burn some calories, bond with a loved one who comes with you, and reduce holiday stress.
2. Don’t let Thanksgiving wreck your entire week’s schedule. If you skip your Thursday workout, fine – get right back at it on Friday.
3. Make a new family tradition for Thanksgiving that involves some activity. Many families like to play football on Thanksgiving, while others hike, play tennis, or take a pre- or post- dinner walk. Whatever it is, you can combine holiday cheer and family time with your healthy lifestyle.
4. Whatever exercise you do, don’t use it as an excuse to indulge in your turkey and stuffing eating. Enjoy your food, savor the flavor, get some activity in and move on.
